We had a lazy start on Saturday moring. Slept late and slow to get moving but we were on the road at 11:00 AM with plans to follow the Mississippi to Goose Island County Park, just south of LaCrosse, WI. The pleasant drive we were looking forward to turned out to be a slog in the rain with a detour at Prairie Du Chien, WI due to a mudslide on Wisconsin Hwy 35. We finally arrived at Goose Island to discover a wonderful county park with 400 campsites. Many of the sites were closed due to high water but our site #3 was perfect. The rain quit and the evening was gorgeous.

We did a walking and driving tour of the island which seems to be a very popular destination for fishermen and more than a few beer drinkers. Dinner was barbequed brats eaten on the picnic table.
After dinner I loaded the Canon on a tripod and captured a few images of the sunset.

The temperatures and the humidity are at much more desirable levels than what we have experienced in the last couple of weeks.
